Yelas

Yelas' skilled and multi-culti octet draws from the musical traditions of Catalonia, Spain, Greece, Italy and a bit of the polyphonic chorale of Corsica and Sardinia. Yet it his own stormblown Taqbaylith (Kabylian dialect of Tamazight) voice that guides this sojourn through Tamazgha, as native North Africa was known before the Arab invasion and French colonial period that reinstituted the Arab facade after the retreat of the Ottoman Turks. —Courtesy Calabash Music
