SOUTH AFRICAN GEM

With a spectacular setting on Table Bay at the southern end of Africa, Cape Town is the legislative capital, a major port, manufacturing hub, and tourist destination. The old South African antagonisms of Afrikaner versus English, white versus black (and colored and East Indian) during the apartheid years may have not disappeared, but they seem to fade in this city that may be the most progressive and permissive in South Africa.

ECONOMY
Tourism, agriculture (fruits and wine), banking, insurance, information technology, textiles, building products, car parts, boatbuilding.
